Sheng Puer 2019 “Zaochun mu qiao” (Chinese 早春木乔, pinping zǎochūn mù qiáo, Russian “Tall trees in early spring”)
Manufacturer: Menghai Datan cha chang (Chinese: 勐海大唐茶厂, pinyin měnghǎi dàtáng chá chǎng, Russian: “Datang Tea Factory, Menghai”)
The aroma of apricot, linden, and tobacco notes. The viscous Sheng flavor with a slight lemon tartness transitions into a fruity, compote-like flavor and leaves a soft, honeyed aftertaste.
The pancake is soft and crumbly throughout, easily pulled apart leaf by leaf. When heated by breathing, the aroma is vibrant, slightly smoky, and medicinal, with hints of dried apricot.
After washing, it intensifies, gooseberry is added, and leather and smoky notes are barely detectable. The brewed tea has a soft, slightly sweet, fruity, honeyed flavor with smoky undertones and hints of dried apricot. Steeping the tea doesn't diminish the flavor, but adds a pleasant tartness.
After some time, a rich aftertaste sets in with nuances of baked fruit, dried apricots and peach compote.
This pu-erh tea can be brewed in either a Yixing clay teapot or a gaiwan. The recommended ratio of tea leaves to water is 10 grams per 100 ml. You can use more tea leaves for a richer infusion.Datan's 2019 Sheng Pu'er "Tall Trees in Early Spring" is a wonderful tonic, invigorating, energizing, sobering, and focused tea. An excellent choice for daily tea drinking.
