A tea set is an integral part of the Chinese tea ceremony. When brewing tea, the tableware, namely the material from which it is made, is of great importance. Ceramics are considered the most suitable for brewing tea, as they are able to preserve and not change the aroma of tea. Porcelain sets are also popular due to their beauty, fragility, coloring and design painting. Traditionally, the set consists of a Gaiwan (a small bowl that combines the container itself, a lid and a saucer) or a teapot. Chahai or "cup of justice" is designed to filter the drink through a sieve, from where it is then poured into bowls. The tea master controls the quality of the drink equally for all guests. Bowls are the most important element of the set for Chinese tea drinking. Each type of tea has its own shape. Low, wide, with sloping edges will reveal the taste of pu-erhs. Low, round with high edges - green varieties. Oolong is drunk from high ones. The tea sets also have tea pairs intended for brewing oolongs using the kung fu cha ceremony. The tea is poured into a tall vessel, covered with a wide one, and turned over. The tall one is intended for inhaling the aroma, the short one is for "tasting" the tea.
